The Cli~Mate Air Dryer Dehumidifier is different to Cli~Mate’s compressor range of dehumidifiers. Classified as a desiccant dehumidifier, there are key functions and benefits that set it apart from traditional dehumidifiers.

So when should you opt for the Cli~Mate Air Dryer Dehumidifier over a compressor dehumidifier?

Let’s first look at how it works.

A fan draws the moist air into the dehumidifier and passes it through an absorber- a rotating disc containing a desiccant material Zeolite (similar to Silica Gel) which absorbs moisture. A heating element applies heat to the absorber, which heats the moisture to a high temperature – immediately condensing it to water which drains into a tank.

The unit is very efficient and effective at low temperatures compared with compressor dehumidifiers. The chart below shows compressor and desiccant dehumidifiers litres per day performance at various temperatures. You can see that compressor models work very well at higher temperatures above 20oC. However, as the temperature drops so does their effectiveness in removing water from the air. The Cli~Mate Air Dryer Dehumidifier on the other hand, is not affected by temperature and is able to extract the same amount of moisture at any temperature above 1oC.
